I miss you

By Mona

I miss you,
, the way one misses a shadow that was never quite real.

It’s absurd to miss you,
when I barely know you
and yet you’re stuck in my mind
like a secret that won’t die.

You’ve stayed with me:
in my bed, your ghost;
on my lips, a desire
that won’t learn to obey.

I’d like to kiss you
so that silence would no longer take your shape.
I’d like to forget you
so that my skin would stop whispering your name.

But you’re here
and at the same time you’re running away.
You don’t want me to feel you,
You want to forbid me…
but you remain suspended
on the edge of my breath.
You stayed forever in my pencil and notebook
In the writing of my desires.

Imagination calls to you,
my fantasies brush against you,
and we return—as if condemned—
to the very beginning.

How many times will I have to go through this cycle?

You're in the wind,
in my broken nights,
on my aimless Fridays.

Where can I report a theft of the soul?

Who should I complain to,
, for taking my smile,
, as if it were yours?

I miss you,
, and it hurts to miss you.
You, that stranger who lives inside me.
You.
