In this second installment of his series, Gumaro Manzo Benite once again takes to the streets of Charlotte with his pinhole cameras, capturing the essence of the city through a technique that blends simplicity and mystery. Each image reveals a new perspective on Charlotte, where urban landscapes and small, everyday details are transformed into evocative, out-of-focus compositions, rich in texture and nostalgia.
Gumaro not only explores the city’s hidden corners, but also revives the magic of one of the oldest methods of photography. “With a pinhole camera, every shot is an exercise in patience and surprise,” he explains. “You never know exactly what the image will look like until the process is complete.” It is precisely this uncertainty that gives his photographs that unique and timeless quality that invites you to pause and look.

Through this work, Gumaro reminds us that, even in an age of advanced digital technology, there is beauty in the simple things. His ability to build his own cameras and his focus on this traditional practice make his project not only a tribute to the past, but also a way of seeing the present with fresh eyes.
